Anna Ruby Falls: Twin Waterfalls in the Chattahoochee National Forest
Chattahoochee National Forest, White County
About Anna Ruby Falls
Anna Ruby Falls is one of Georgia's most popular waterfall destinations — and for good reason. Two creeks, Lion's Eye and York, cascade side by side down a forested mountainside in White County before combining in a shared pool at the base. The falls are named for Anna Ruby Nichols, the daughter of a 19th-century timber baron, and have been delighting visitors to the Chattahoochee National Forest for generations.
The paved, accessible trail to the falls follows Smith Creek through a dense forest of rhododendron, mountain laurel, and hemlock. The Helen area surrounding the falls is famous for its faux-Bavarian village architecture, making Anna Ruby Falls an excellent starting point for a full north Georgia mountain weekend.
Trail Highlights

Trail Description
From the Anna Ruby Falls fee parking area near Unicoi State Park, follow the paved trail along Smith Creek upstream. The trail climbs gradually through rhododendron tunnels and passes several scenic creek cascades before reaching the main falls.
The twin falls appear at the end of the paved trail — Lion's Eye drops about 150 feet and York Creek drops about 50 feet, with both combining in a pool below the viewing platform. The platform allows a full view of both falls simultaneously. Return via the same paved path.
