Tower Bridge Trail – Bryce Canyon
The Tower Bridge Trail descends into the seldom-visited northern amphitheater of Bryce Canyon to reveal one of the most remarkable geological formations in the park: a natural stone bridge framed by two eroded hoodoo towers that together resemble the famous London landmark. This out-and-back route branches off the Fairyland Loop and drops steeply through switchbacks into a canyon where the pale orange and white Claron Formation limestone has been sculpted into arches, windows, and pinnacles by millions of years of freeze-thaw erosion. The trail receives far fewer visitors than the Navajo or Queens Garden routes, granting hikers a genuine sense of solitude and discovery. Near the formation itself, a window arch punches clean through a hoodoo spine, framing a slice of sky above the canyon floor. Utah junipers and ponderosa pines cling to the canyon walls, and prairie dogs are often spotted near the trailhead meadow. The return climb back to the rim is strenuous, gaining most of the 800 feet in a short distance. Tower Bridge is best visited in the morning when shadows bring out the rich color contrasts in the rock. This trail rewards hikers willing to venture slightly off the beaten path with an unforgettable sandstone spectacle.
