Mirror Lake Trail

The Mirror Lake Trail at Bottomless Lakes State Park leads to the most accessible and visitor-friendly of the park's remarkable sinkhole lakes, where calm water surface conditions frequently create perfect mirror reflections of the surrounding red bluffs and desert sky. Mirror Lake is one of the shallower lakes in the complex, which contributes to its warmer water temperatures and its designation as the primary swimming area within the park. The trail follows the lakeside path through a landscape that feels genuinely surreal, with the intensely colored groundwater surrounded by red gypsum bluffs and desert vegetation in the high plains of eastern New Mexico near Roswell.
