The Miller Point Trail is a short but steep hike at Cathedral Gorge State Park in southeastern Nevada, leading to the park's premier overlook with one of the most dramatic vistas in the region. Despite its modest 0.5-mile round trip distance, the trail climbs 150 feet on a rugged path to reach Miller Point, a prominent ridgeline perch directly above the canyon floor.

From the overlook, hikers are treated to a sweeping bird's-eye view of the entire gorge and its extraordinary clay formations, revealing the full scale and complexity of the landscape that is impossible to appreciate from within the canyon passages below. The view encompasses thousands of eroded spires, fins, and pinnacles of pale bentonite clay stretching across the valley, with the geometry of more than 1,000 feet of geological erosion laid out in stunning detail.

The steep grade and loose footing on the approach make this trail moderately challenging despite its brevity, and hikers should use caution near the exposed rim at the top. The overlook is an especially rewarding destination at sunrise and sunset when the soft light accentuates the textures of the clay formations. The $10 per vehicle park entry fee applies. Leashed dogs are welcome on this trail. Bring water even for this short excursion, as the desert environment can be warm and dry year-round.
