Tall Grass Prairie Trail

The Tall Grass Prairie Trail explores the mountain meadow terrain of Davis Mountains State Park, wandering through expanses of native grama grass and mixed prairie that represent one of the best surviving examples of mid-elevation mountain grassland in the Trans-Pecos region of Texas. This habitat type, historically maintained by grazing bison and periodic fire, has been reduced to small remnants across the American Southwest, making the park s grassland a genuinely significant ecological resource.
