The Creekside Trail at Guadalupe River State Park winds along the banks of the legendary Guadalupe River, the most popular river for tubing and recreation in the Texas Hill Country. Towering bald cypress trees line the riverbanks, their fluted trunks and feathery foliage creating a cathedral corridor along the crystal-clear water. The cypress-lined Guadalupe is one of the iconic landscapes of Central Texas, and the Creekside Trail delivers intimate access to its finest natural stretches.

Limestone bluffs rise above the river in sections, providing dramatic vertical relief against the flat water surface and creating nesting habitat for cliff swallows and black-capped vireos, one of Texas most significant endangered bird species. Swimming holes punctuate the river course, with the cold, spring-fed water providing extraordinary relief during hot Texas summers. White-tailed deer drink at the river margins in early morning and evening. Giant soft-shell turtles inhabit the deeper pools, and their occasional emergence onto sandbars provides memorable wildlife encounters. Edwards Plateau lizards scurry across the limestone outcrops in sunlight. Fall foliage from the bald cypress turns golden orange in November, creating one of the most beautiful autumn color displays in the Hill Country. The trail remains engaging year-round as river levels fluctuate with seasonal rains and the ever-present flow from Hill Country springs.
