The Colosseum Trail visits Ha Ha Tonka's remarkable geological complex including a natural bridge 70 feet long, a collapsed cave creating a 200-foot sinkhole called the Colosseum, and several active spring systems discharging clear Ozark groundwater. The karst terrain reflects the underlying dolomite's susceptibility to chemical dissolution by slightly acidic groundwater over millions of years. The spring creates ideal habitat for crayfish, hellgrammites, and other stream invertebrates.
