The Natural Bridge at Maquoketa Caves is a 50-foot limestone arch carved by an underground stream that eroded through the rock over thousands of years. The span is wide enough to walk across and offers views down into the ravine below. Surrounding vegetation includes native ferns and mosses that thrive in the constant moisture seeping from the porous dolomite. The bridge is one of the finest natural arches in Iowa.
