About Toccoa Falls

Toccoa Falls holds a unique distinction in the Southeast — it is a 186-foot unbroken freefall waterfall located entirely on the campus of Toccoa Falls College in Stephens County. The falls are taller than Niagara Falls, and the combination of dramatic height and accessible campus setting makes them one of the most visited natural attractions in northeast Georgia.

The falls are reached via a short trail from the campus bookstore area through a shaded forest path alongside Toccoa Creek. The trail ends at a wooden deck with a full view of the 186-foot drop into the pool below. A small fee supports the college. The setting is peaceful and distinctly different from typical state park waterfall experiences.

Trail Description

Park in the visitor lot near the Toccoa Falls College bookstore and pay the small admission fee. Follow the signed path along Toccoa Creek through a shaded forest of oak and tulip poplar.

The trail ends at a deck with a full view of the 186-foot drop. The unbroken freefall is immediately striking — the water appears to fall from nowhere into the dark pool below. A path leads to the pool edge for a close-up experience. Return the same way.

Getting There

From Toccoa, GA, take US-123 North approximately 1 mile. Turn left on Toccoa Falls Road and follow signs for Toccoa Falls College. Park in the visitor lot and follow signs to the falls. GPS: 34.5900, -83.3300.
