Boulder, Colorado is one of the top trail running cities in the United States, and the Mesa Trail is its crown jewel. The Route

A car shuttle makes the one-way version easier. The trail rolls along the base of the range, dipping into creek drainages and rising over small ridges β€” never brutally hard, but consistently engaging.

Side trail options add variety: Big Bluestem Trail cuts east through open meadows, Towhee Trail and Shadow Canyon climb steeply into the Flatirons for anyone wanting to add serious elevation. The trail system is well-signed and easy to navigate.
